At Hope Creek Studios, we believe an art lesson should do more than keep students busy. A strong art lesson gives students something to learn, something to look at, something to practice, and something to think about. Our resources are designed to help students develop real artistic skills while exploring the artists, cultures, history, techniques, and ideas that give art meaning.

We want students to learn how to see, how to think, how to make, and how to understand. That means a project might introduce a drawing skill, explore color theory, study an artist, examine a work of art, practice a technique, investigate an art movement, or connect art to a particular time and culture. The finished artwork matters, but the learning that happens along the way matters even more.

We don't create our resources in a vacuum. We teach. We try projects with real students, watch where they succeed and where they struggle, make adjustments, and refine our lessons based on what actually happens in the classroom. Sometimes a project looks great on paper but doesn't work the way we expected. Sometimes a simple idea becomes one of our students' favorite lessons.

We're Tonya and Emmie, a mother-daughter team with more than 45 years of combined experience in studio art, graphic design, photography, education, and visual communication. We teach, design, create, photograph, write curriculum, and learn right alongside our students.
Our resources come from that experience.
